Birdworld Kuranda

In the heart of Kuranda, one of the largest free-flight aviaries in Australia is located below the rainforest trees. More than 500 birds from around the globe like here at Birdworld Kuranda, and among them is 56 different species of native Australian birds living in the safe enclosure, including brightly coloured parrots, playful lorikeets and the large elusive cassowary.

A fabulous family outing, Birdworld Kuranda is an exceptional opportunity to get up close with beautiful birds. The birds have had regular contact with humans, making them relatively tame, and it's common to find a friendly bird perched upon your shoulder!

The 450 birds fly freely around the canopy in the same way they would in their natural habitat. Most of the birds are native to Tropical North Queensland, however the Birdworld Kuranda is also home to endangered species from rainforests around the world such as the amazing Amazonian Macaw.

Bring your camera to Birdworld Kuranda, as this place is a photographers dream. No barriers or cages are between you and the birds, so it's an ideal oportunity to catch your own images of the amazing array of colourful birds.

Birdworld's Habitat

Birdworld Kuranda has a number of boardwalks through a rainforest setting, with two lakes joined by a waterfall. This allows a greater number of bird species to co-exist the same habitat.

Water birds such as stilts, herons and swans love the lakes and the waterfall. Ducks and kingfishers also love this area.

Above in the rainforest canopy you'll see the huge macaws, sun conures, lorikeet and cockatoos. Many of the rainforest birds are friendly and love to be fed. Birdworld Kuranda provides bird food for purchase on arrival, and the birds will love you for it!
