It you're keen to experience a tropical rainforest ecosystem, without the risk of getting lost or having to clamber over slippery rocks, take a trip to the Rainforest Habitat.

Wander through the boardwalks which depict four different environments. You could observe the pelicans or the jabirus in the wetlands, or the Boyd’s Forest Dragon in the rainforests. The boardwalks allow for viewing the exhibits at different levels. See the different types of fish swimming, or look at the sleepy fruit bats. The park has two open air exhibits which gives you the opportunity to see birds in their natural environment.

The experienced Guides at Port Douglas’ Rainforest Habitat are passionate at their work and love showing you around the park. They give interactive shows which allow you to learn about the animals and touch a snake or two!

Habitat After Dark

If you were after a slightly different experience, why not try seeing the Habitat After Dark? See the active animals at dusk with an informative, passionate guide. Tours throughout the park are conducted by one guide for approximately 25 people. This enables your tour to be intimate and personal. All your questions will be happily answered so you leave feeling quite knowledgable.

You will then be led into the Wetland’s restraint to dine on your choice of meat with an array of salads and sauces, locally-made breads, fruit platters and finally delicious desserts. Fine wine and live music will be provided, however, the peaceful sound of the animals is inevitable!

Enjoy your dinner with the unusual locals. The staff at the habitat will be accompanying you with a variety of animal interactive experiences.


Breakfast With The Birds

If you are an early riser, come to the Habitat for Breakfast with the Birds! Dine within the Wetland’s Restaurant among a range of curious, but friendly birds. Greated by champagne or orange juice, you can then feast upon one of Queensland’s best tropical Breakfast buffets which includes fresh tropical and exotic fruit platters, cereals and freshly baked pastries.

The BBQ chef will cook up eggs, bacon and a variety of other hot breakfasts. Aft you have eaten as much as possible, walk off breakfast by viewing the park for the rest of the day.

Exclusive Breakfast with the Birds for groups is available prior to 8 am, with a minimum of 20 people. Our restaurant can seat 250 people, however, it is capable of handling 600 people with a progressive breakfast format.

Don’t miss an opportunity to see the Koala’s within the Koala Habitat. One of the open air exhibits, the boardwalk allows you to see eye to eye with the Koalas. You also get the option of touching, feeding and taking photos of Australia’s cutest mammals.

The Port Douglas Habitat also includes a gift shop where you can purchase many intricate gifts as mementos of your visit to Tropical North Queensland. Please take the time to visit the Wet Tropics Information Centre, located near the Gift Shop. If you are hungry or thirsty, feel free to browse through the many items within the Restaurant, Kiosk and Licensed Bar located within the Wetlands enclosure. Group bookings for lunch or breakfast can be arranged.

Cape Tribulation and Daintree Tour

A great way to see the Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary in Port Douglas is to be part of the Cape Tribulation and Daintree Tour.
