Cairns & Tully White Water Rafting Tours
White water rafting in Cairns is all about team adventure! It's not for the faint-hearted, but an exhilarating ride down a raging river in an inflatable boat provides excitement that will be difficult to beat on any Cairns holiday.
Not only is white water rafting exciting, it's a fantastic source of exercise!
Rivers in the Far North vary from mild to wild, in fact this is one of the slogans of a Cairns white water rafting company! Depending on your taste you can opt for gentle rivers with a minimum of white water, or raging torrents where you need to be on your toes.
In these rivers, such as the wild Tully River, the rapids come in quick succession. After an exhilarating ride through thrashing water, you'll catch your breath and regain your grip on the world only to be confronted with the next rumble of water. A full day rafting on the Tully River, for example, has more than 45 rapids twisting through untouched rainforest.

You are assured of complete safety during your Cairns white water rafting tour. All white water rafting guides are fully trained and have experience handling the waters. All guides ride the rivers many times and have an intimate knowledge of its curves, bends, drops and tricky spots before they are permitted to take visitors in the boats. Of course, everyone must wear a life jacket and the white water rafting guides give a full safety demonstration before the trip.
The white water rafts are tough inflatables with self-draining floors. All the water that comes in over the side drains right back out again so there is no risk of sinking while you're white water rafting.
On a full-day whitewater rafting trip (this is the one on the Tully River) the expedition stops at a picnic shelter for lunch.
From Cairns, the major rivers for white water rafting are the Tully River, Johnstone River, Russell River and the Barron River.
